What You Need

In-Game Requirements

To transfer pokémon from Pokémon FireRed to Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl, then in Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl, you need to have seen all 150 pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex (excluding Manaphy), then talk to Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town to get the National Pokédex.

To transfer pokémon from Pokémon FireRed to Pokémon Platinum, then in Pokémon Platinum, you need to get the Pokédex from Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town, and you need to have at least two pokémon in your party.

To transfer pokémon from Pokémon FireRed to Pokémon HeartGold or Pokémon SoulSilver, then in Pokémon HeartGold or Pokémon SoulSilver, you need to defeat the Elite Four and enter the Hall of Fame, then try to board the S.S. Aqua to get the National Pokédex.

How to Trade

This is a ONE-WAY TRANSFER! Pokémon sent from Pokémon FireRed to Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver cannot be sent back to Pokémon FireRed!

Put your Pokémon FireRed cartridge into the GBA slot of the Nintendo DS. Put yourPokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver cartridge into the DS game slot. Start your Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver game and choosethe 'Migrate from Pokémon FireRed' option in the menu. When asked to migrate, say Yes.When asked to confirm, say Yes. Choose exactly six pokémon (nomore and no less) to transfer. After choosing, say Yes, and when informedthat the pokémon cannot be returned to the GBA cartridge, say Yes.

Then start your game of Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver. You need to go to Pal Park in the game. The following sections explain how to go to thePal Park.

Pal Park Location in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum

The Pal Park is in Route 221. To get there,go south from Sandgem Town and use Surf to travel toRoute 219. Go south from there to Route 220, then use the northeast path to go to route 221. Keep going east until you reach a building. This is Pal Park.Go inside.

Pal Park Location in HeartGold or SoulSilver

Pal Park is in Fuchsia City.Go to Fuchsia City and enter the northernmost building to reach Pal Park.

Using the Pal Park

Before using Pal Park, you might want to bring a Pokémon with you that knowsSurf, because certain areas of Pal Park are only accessible with Surf.If this is your first visit, Professor Oak will talk to you.Afterward, go up to the counter andtalk to the guy wearing a construction helmet. Say Yes when asked to participate in the Catching Shows. He will ask if youwant to read the instruction manual. When you are done, choose UNDERSTOOD!Then say Yes to participate in a Catching Show now.He'll give you six Park Balls. Then you will enter the Pal Park. Run around in the tall grass to encounterthe pokémon that you migrated from Pokémon FireRed. The Park Balls always capture successfully, just like Master Balls (but you can only use Park Balls inside Pal Park), so just throw a Ball andyou will catch the pokémon. Repeat this process to catch all of the pokémonthat you migrated from Pokémon FireRed. After you have caught them all, you will beasked if you want to put all of the caught pokémon in PC Boxes.

Turn on your other Nintendo DS or 3DS that has the Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver cartridge in it, then choose DS Download Play from the menu (if using a 3DS, Download Play isin the home screen. Look for the orange icon with a DS on it. When prompted,choose to download Nintendo DS software). Select the game that has the ID number that is displayedin your Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 game, then say Yes to download.After it downloads, choose exactly six pokémon that you want to transfer, and say Yes when asked if you want to transfer those pokémon.Say Yes if the game tells you that held items will be put into the bag.

After you have chosen the pokémon, you will play a minigame inPokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 where you throw pokéballs at pokémon that move around the screen. To throw the pokéballs, drag the stylus on the touchscreen to pull the Pokéball downward, and watch the top screen to see where the pokéball will land.Take the stylus off of the screen to throw thepokéball. If a pokémon is hiding in a bush, throw a pokéball at the bushto make the pokémon jump out. Throw a pokéball at a jumping pokémon to catch it. Near the end of the time limit, a pink cloud of Sleep Powder will floatacross the screen. Hit the pink cloud with a pokéball to make the pokémon fall asleep. Then throw pokéballs at the sleeping pokémon. If a pokémon isnot on the screen when you hit the pink cloud, you won't be able to catch thatpokémon until it wakes up and comes back onscreen.

If thereare any pokémon that you do not want to send from Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver to Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2, just don'tcatch those pokémon. Uncaught pokémon will go back to Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver.

After the time runs out, you will be asked if you want to transfer the caughtpokémon. If you say No, the pokémon will go back to Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold, or Pokémon SoulSilver.Otherwise, say Yes to transfer them. The game will be saved. You will be askedif you want to use the Poké Transfer again. Choose No if you are done, or choose Yes if you want to transfer more pokémon. If you are done, the game willask you to turn off the power.

In Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2,the caught pokémon will besent to your PC Box.

Part 3: Transfer from Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 to Pokémon Sun

If you don't have Pokémon Bank or you need to update it,go to Pokémon Bank in the eShop. You can usethe Nintendo 3DS camera and tap the QR code button to scan the following QR Code to go to the PokémonBank page in the eShop.

Purchase Pokémon Bank Pass

Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 to Pokémon Bank

Open Pokémon Bank. If you are prompted for your password, enter itand sign in.Choose 'Use Pokémon Bank' in the Pokémon Bank menu. Use the cursor to choose Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 in the top screen, then choose 'Use this game'.

If a message says that your Pokémon Link is full, you will be asked if youstill want to use Pokémon Bank. You won't lose your gifts if you say Yes.You can get your gifts by opening Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 andchoosing Pokémon Link in the game select menu to receive your gifts fromPokémon Bank.

Back in Pokémon Bank, after you select Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 and choose 'Use this Game',your PC Boxes in Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 will be displayed in the touch screen, and your PokémonBank boxes will be displayed in the upper screen.Use the control pad or circle pad (the stylus cannot be used in PokémonBank) to move the desired pokémon from Boxes in the the touch screen to Boxes in the upper screen.

You can press START to switch between a red cursor, which shows youseveral options when you select a pokémon with it; a blue cursor, whichpicks up one pokémon at a time without showing any options; and a green cursor,which allows you to select multiple pokémon at a time.

When you are done moving your pokémon from Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 to Pokémon Bank boxes, press the X button to save your changes and return to the title screen.

Transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon Sun

Press a button to go to the Pokémon Bank menu again. Now select Pokémon Sun and choose 'Use this Game'. Then use the control pad or circle pad to move the desired pokémon from the Pokémon Bank box in the top screen to one of your Pokémon SunPC Boxes in the touch screen. When you are done, press X to save and exit.
